Paul Miller Design, Inc was initially hired by Waverly Hospital to study the possibility of expanding the hospital on Waverly Golf Course land adjacent to the hospital. the north part of Waverly Golf Course. Initial concept plans showed that two existing holes could be replaced by two proposed holes on an available parcel of agricultural land adjacent to southwest corner of the golf course.

The new golf holes consist of a par 3 and a par 4 that will add additional length to the golf course. The 16 acre property being utilized for the new holes allows for the development of a series of ponds that will be connected by a rock lined re-circulating stream that starts out at a waterfalls that serves as a dramatic backdrop to the green on the challenging new par 3. The par 3 will play from 115 yards to 235 yards.

The new 350 yard par 4 will feature a classic risk reward set up with bunkers defining a longer dogleg route to the hole while the straightaway shorter route will bring water into play down the left side. The new holes will feature earth shaping, naturalized fescue areas and tree plantings to make the golf holes complementary to earlier improvements to Waverly Golf Course that resulted in being named Iowa 18 hole golf course of the year.

Stay tuned for the after pictures!
